The Moselle Valley – A Refreshing Retreat

September 1st 2010 -

Even 2000 years ago, the Celts, the Gaul’s and later on the Romans have all cultivated the vine in the Moselle valley before the monasteries took over in the middle Ages and extended the vineyards to a large part of the country. The Moselle valley is a region in north-eastern France, south-western Germany, and eastern Luxembourg, centered on the river valley formed by the Moselle, and gives the opportunity to travel trough small traditional medieval towns and traditional villages.

The Moselle Valley offers magnificent vineyards landscapes, sophisticated cuisine and exclusive wines from the region. August marks the ripening of the grapes ready for September harvest. The vineyards are mostly known for its dry white wines.

Tour myriad wine cellars, participate in wine tastings, mingle with the locals, or kick back at a charming café. Become a wine connoisseur with a visit to the Wine Museum or by taking a guided tour of the area. Check out the colorful Grape and Wine Festivals – complete with parades – in fall and spring.
