MSC Hosts Italian Cooking Classes
October 10th 2011 -
Italy-based MSC Cruises is paying homage to its homeland with a series of cruises based around Italian food and wine.
The Italian cooking school "La Prova del Cucco" (Italian for "The Chef's Challenge") is the basis for an Italian television series — and now a cruise. Passengers get five lessons, covering everything from meat and fish to fresh pasta and desserts, along with tips on how to assemble a menu and choose the best ingredients.
The workshops are available on the following Mediterranean sailings: MSC Orchestra 19-day cruise, starting March 20; MSC Poesia 10-day cruise, starting April 26; and MSC Magnifica 13-day cruise, starting March 22.
But if Chianti is more your cup of tea so to speak, check out the "Approach to Wine" course presented by the Italian Sommelier Association. Over five lessons, passengers learn the basics of wine growing, the wines of Italy and the world, and techniques for pairing food and wine. Of course, there will be tastings, and the classes will be complemented by three additional wine-and-food-pairing sessions.
The wine classes are available on the MSC Orchestra 18-day cruise, starting Nov. 18; MSC Musica 18-day Dec. 1 sailing and 19-day March 17 sailing; and MSC Poesia 17 day cruise, departing March 17.
