The San Francisco Port Commission has voted to move ahead with plans to build a new $92 million cruise terminal on Pier 27. Plans call for an 88,000-square-foot cruise terminal and a 2.2-acre public park. The project will be taxpayer-funded and completed in 2014.
The new cruise terminal on Pier 27 will serve as the primary cruise ship terminal, while an existing cruise terminal on Pier 35 will be used as a secondary terminal in the event that two cruise ships require berthing on the same date.

Disney Cruise Line just announced they will offer new itineraries in 2013, including an expanded portfolio of European cruises with new destinations, new 2012 options, including a 14-night Panama Canal cruise, and will utilize a second homeport in Florida.
Beginning June 1, 2013, the Disney Magic returns to Europe with plenty of new twists to the Mediterranean itineraries, including a 4-night option and special 12-night sailings in addition to 7-night itineraries that treat guests to the best of Europe. The 12-night sailings visit destinations such as Venice, Italy, and Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast on one itinerary; Ephesus, Turkey and the Greek Isles including Athens on another itinerary.
Disney Cruise Line will sail from Miami for the first time on Dec. 23, 2012. The 6- and 7-night Caribbean sailings aboard the Disney Wonder will set the stage for a schedule of 4- and 5-night cruises from Miami to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean between Jan. 5 and May 2, 2013. Ports of call may include Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Cayman; Key West; Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s Castaway Cay. The Disney Magic will continue to sail from the Port of Galveston to the Western Caribbean through May 2013.
Beginning May 27, 2013, the Disney Wonder will sail 7-night cruises from Vancouver to Tracy Arm, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, Alaska. Working closely with Alaskan tour operators, Disney Cruise Line has created exclusive-to-Disney family-friendly Port Adventures that allow guests to best experience Alaska’s natural beauty and rich history.

Waikiki Beach, whose golden sands get washed away over time by waves, currents and trade winds is currently being restored by the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR). Approximately 1,730 feet of shoreline in front of the Moana, Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach and Royal Hawaiian hotels is being replaced. The three-month project is expected to wrap up on March 31.
The project's objective is to return the beach to its 1985 condition using a state-of-the-art sand-blowing technology to transport sand along the beach. The project is financed by DLNR's beach fund, the Hawaii Tourism Authority and Kyo-ya Hotels and Resorts.
Construction activities take place during daylight hours, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., seven days a week. In order to ensure public safety, certain areas of the beach will be closed from time to time. Since the project requires a 60-day operating window of calm seas, it has been scheduled during the winter, which typically has the mildest wind and wave conditions in Waikiki.
